Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled a new badge for the Space Force, which has sparked the enthusiasm of Star Trek fans. However, before blaming “plagiarism”, we must point out the fact that the fleet badge of “Trek” has actually evolved from the NASA logo.

Design elements like arrows, planets, and stars have been widely used for the past 13 years. Even the older version of the NASA badge (the 2004 version that looks darker) dates back to 1982.
On December 20, 2019, the U.S. Air Force announced that Space Command has officially transitioned to the Space Force, thereby becoming the sixth branch of the U.S. military.
Foreign media also explored previous versions of the Space Force logo revealed in 2019. As shown above, we can see the change from 1985 to 2002.

The Fleet Command’s badge first appeared in DS9 S4E11 (Homefront), and was then seen in “In the Flesh” (VGR), making people think of NASA’s badge.
In recent years, Okuda has also partnered with NASA to develop logos such as “2017 NASA Flight Operations Emblem.”
